'Introspection' by Alexandra Douglass. 'Keep your mind right' by Deadbeat Creative Co. www.deadbeatcreative.com | (Just so you know guys, you don't need tickets for the Mindwise auction; we just put this link on the Facebook event to give you some more info!) Mental health is fast becoming one of the biggest issues of our time. We all know of someone affected by the illness as research shows that 1 in 4 people are currently suffering from it. Instead of being fed on a diet of anti-depressants and diazepam it has been highlighted that the treatments available aren’t fixing the problem, they're just prolonging it. A taskforce set-up by the NHS have stated that around three quarters of people living with mental-health problems have received no treatment at all. The same group have also pointed out that patients should only have to wait a maximum of 2 weeks to receive treatment from a therapist, however in reality the average waiting time is actually 32 weeks. In an interview with David Cameron, Fiona Bruce grills the prime minister as to what changes he plans to make to mental health services before his term is up. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-35565216 The host for our ‘Art & Soul’ auction, Deb McCready works for mental health charity MindWise, but her background has always been art. She decided to host this event to combine the two, a charity auction and exhibition to raise awareness for mental health, with all proceeds going to MindWise to help support those at risk of, or affected by, mental health issues. ART. MUSIC. WINE! Not only will there be fantastic original artwork up for grabs in our ‘Art and Soul’ auction, showcasing talented artists, all of whom have generously donated their work to help raise money for this worthy cause, but we’ll also be entertaining you with not one but two acoustic sessions from the very talented Frances Mitchell from LORIS and Maitiu MacLiam from The Dead Presidents. There’ll also be a chance for YOU to get involved with a little interactive art on the night too! This is a night not to be missed... EVERYONE WELCOME! |
