This week brings the second First Thursdays event in the Cathedral Quarter Belfast. It's an evening packed with wonderful events taking place throughout the district and there's something to suit everyone! Why not take a walk round the art galleries and businesses in the vicinity and immerse yourself in some good wholesome local art. Check out the venues below... We're joined by Stephen Fagan, who is LIVE painting in our shop window everyday this week. He has began a brand new acrylic painting which will be for sale on Thursday evening along with other pieces of his work. You should come along, that would be just lovely!
To see a list of all events, head over to the First Thursdays website. After all that free wine and beautiful art at Late Night Art and all the fun at First Thursdays Belfast you'll want to draw, and drink and hang out right?
We got you.. Draw what you like, (yes whatever you like), and we'll put it on the big screen and the internet. Add pizza, beer and tunes and you've a great end to the first First Thursday. Where? Black Box, 9pm til late. Hosted by Seedhead Arts. ✨First Thursdays- September event✨
Ink Monkey Live presents local artist Faigy. Faigy specialises in detailed canvas paintings created freehand with acrylics. His pieces can swing between the dark and strange to the colourful and cute, and he has also crossed over into street art, using acrylic paints and spray cans to transfer his pop-surrealist style onto city centre shutters and gable walls. As part of the next First Thursdays instalment, Faigy will be painting live in our shop window for 4 consecutive days. Starting on Monday the 4th September he'll begin a brand new acrylic painting, and has set himself the challenge of finishing by Thursday 7th September and making the piece available for purchase with his other artwork on display in store. You'll be able to call in and see how he's progressing over the 4 days, and we'll be open until 8pm on Thursday 7th so you can check out the rest of his work.
We took part in the 'Inside Out' event, where over 30 businesses and organisations had local artwork on display throughout the Cathedral Quarter!
Here's a photo of Jenn alongside the two framed pieces which we still have on display in store. Entitled 'Back to a dead end' which was taken in New York and 'Bending road' which was taken in Marseille, these images portray places and moments where narrative potentialities may emerge. These photographs are the work of Frederic Huska who was born in France but now lives and works here in Belfast. If you'd like to see the rest of the artwork on display you can check it out here www.insideoutbelfast.com and if you see something you like, everything is for sale! 🌟First Thursday's is tomorrow🌟
First Thursday's is a colourful initiative designed to showcase the very best of the city's most famous quarter and what it has to offer! Over 30 organisations, venues, galleries, bars and businesses will be offering up something a little bit special throughout the day! There will be a street market, live music, street performers, exhibitions, area tours, children's workshops, storytelling, free activities and more! We're hosting a solo exhibition with local artist Stephen O'Kane from 6-8pm and it's a FREE event! We're also taking part in the 'Inside Out' street gallery! Call in and grab a programme today! As part of the Cathedral Quarter's inaugural 'First Thursday's' event, we are hosting a solo exhibition showcasing original artworks by local contemporary artist Stephen O'Kane.
Entitled 'Inexternal', Stephen's work explores how internal thoughts and emotions can be represented in an external manner. The selected body of work is an example of his original oil paintings. The exhibition takes place on Thursday the 3rd of August from 6-8pm. T O N I G H T
